Applications are now being accepted for the O. Warren Hillgren Memorial Scholarship, administered by the La Cañada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce and Community Association. Deadline to submit your application and a 200-word essay is Wednesday, April 26, 2022 by 4:00 p.m. to the Chamber office.
Mr. Hillgren strongly believed in the public education system of our country and wished to encourage individual students wherever possible. They also were tireless advocates of community service and free enterprise, and believed it was both an obligation and a privilege to be able to contribute to the betterment of one’s community. He was a founding father of our City and Mayor in 1978. He also served as Chamber Chairman of the Board in 1976, the year we attained cityhood.
The O. Warren Hillgren Scholarship, in the amount of $1,000, will be awarded by the La Cañada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce based on merit, which includes excellence in academics, character, extracurricular school activities, community service and/or athletics. Special consideration shall be given in the weighting of the candidate’s experience, further involvement with the local business community, aptitude for business entrepreneurship, and commercial enterprise consistent with the values stated above.
Applicant must be a citizen of the United States and a senior in good standing at La Cañada High School.
